Chocolate makes anything taste better, and that’s the premise behind today. Dec. 16 isn’t the only chocolate-themed food holiday, but it marks the wide-ranging National Chocolate-Covered Anything Day, and I think these two weeks before New Year’s resolutions begin are the perfect time to indulge.

I recently ordered some coffee online to give away as presents, but when I opened up the box, to my surprise there were only two bags of coffee – the rest were chocolate-covered coffee beans. The invoice showed that I had indeed ordered coffee, and a quick email confirmed that it was their mistake, but my benefit. “Go ahead and enjoy those chocolate covered coffee beans,” said Faith, e-commerce supervisor. “They are addicting!”

No kidding. This has to be the best order mix-up I’ve ever had… although I am a bit worried that I have in fact become addicted to snacking on these tasty, semisweet bites. I’ve always (well, since I was about 12) been a huge fan of the combination of dark chocolate and coffee, and these coffee beans are definitely my favorite chocolate-covered anything. Even better that they were free.
