San Francisco Start-Up Brings Farm-to-Fridge Groceries

Good Eggs Grocery Delivery

Ever wish you could hand-pick foods from your favorite local producers and have them delivered right to your front door? Good Eggs, a San Francisco based start-up company, is doing just that.

The year-old company began as a place where producers could sell their fresh products online, but now they’ve taken it a step further and manually pack and deliver customer orders to their doors. The easy-to-use website allows consumers to browse food and products of local farmers and producers and add products they want to an online “basket.” Customers know exactly where their food is coming from and there’s even an option to subscribe to items they buy regularly, so they won’t forget next time.

Goods are hand-packed when the order is placed, allowing food to be at its freshest. This process also helps the farmer and producer cut down on waste, because they know exactly how much to make. The company offers several free pickup spots around the city, or customers can have their groceries delivered for $3.99.

Farmers and food makers are also profiled on the website, helping to promote San Francisco’s local market. Prices on Good Eggs are slightly higher than conventional grocery stores, but are very similar to boutique markets like Whole Foods. The company is planning on expanding to set up a similar system in Brooklyn this spring.
