Fresh from Florida On the Menu

With the growing support for local products, restaurants are now featuring more and more fresh produce and seafood from Florida. To recognize and encourage these efforts, the Fresh From Florida On the Menu program was developed by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

The program helps diners know they are enjoying local foods while dining out in Florida restaurants and for the state’s award-winning restaurants to be recognized for serving fresh local products.

Participating restaurants feature the “Fresh From Florida” logo on their menus next to items sourced from Florida farms and waters.

“Consumers see the ‘Fresh From Florida’ logo in the produce section of their grocery stores, in print and television advertising, and on menus in select restaurants throughout Florida, they know they are buying and consuming fresh products that were grown or made in Florida,” says Jackie Moalli, who heads up the program for the department.

To participate, restaurants must join the “Fresh From Florida” program, feature Florida products and highlight Florida growers where possible, use the logo on printed menus, and train staff on what Florida products are being featured.
