Commodity Commissions

Commodity commissions raise awareness and support the state’s producers:

ACC for Apples

The Agricultural Commodity Commission for Apples was established to promote Georgia apple producers and their products. The current ACCA board chairman is Tim Mercier.

ACC for Beef

The Agricultural Commodity Commission for Beef is funded through an assessment of up to $1 per head. The commission supports research, promotion and education for Georgia’s beef industry. The current ACCB board chairman is John Callaway.

ACC for Blueberries

The Agricultural Commodity Commission for Blueberries was established in 1993. The ACCB’s mission is to support research, education and promotion programs on behalf of the state’s growers. The current chairman of the ACCB board is Joe Cornelius Jr.

ACC for Corn

The Agricultural Commodity Commission for Corn was established in 1993 for the purpose of research, education, market development and promotion. The ACCC oversees a mandatory checkoff program of 1 cent per bushel on corn that is produced and sold in Georgia. The current ACCC board chairman is Danny Willingham.

ACC for Cotton

The Agricultural Commodity Commission for Cotton was
established in 1965. The ACCC attains funding by a pay-per-bale assessment enabling the commission to invest in their programs of research, promotion and education, on behalf of the cotton producers. The current ACCC board chairman is Mike Lucas.

ACC for Equine

The Agricultural Commodity Commission for Equine was established in 2006 with the mission to ensure through promotion, education and research that Georgia’s equine industry would remain effective and meaningful. The commission’s revenue for operating primarily comes from the sale of specialty equine license plates. The current ACCE board chairman is John Clements.

ACC for Milk

The Agricultural Commodity Commission for Milk supports Georgia milk producers by conducting research and promoting Georgia milk products. The current ACCM board chairman is Tim Camp.

ACC for Peaches

The Agricultural Commodity Commission for Peaches was established to promote Georgia peaches and Georgia peach growers. It is dedicated to providing fun and exciting events to bring the surrounding community closer together. The current ACCP board chairman is Lawton Pearson.

ACC for Pecans

The Agricultural Commodity Commission for Pecans began in 1995. The commission funds research, education, and promotion to increase awareness and raise demand for Georgia pecans. The current ACCP board chairman is Thomas Mason.

ACC for Soybeans

The Agricultural Commodity Commission for Soybeans was created to improve soybean production practices in Georgia, as well as to investigate strategies to maximize yield and minimize risk performance. The current ACCS board chairman is Greg Mims.

ACC for Tobacco

The Agricultural Commodity Commission for Tobacco was established in 1962 to support education, research and promotion related to tobacco production in Georgia. The current ACCT board chairman is Daniel Johnson.

ACC for Vegetables

The Agricultural Commodity Commission for Vegetables was created to promote and support vegetable growers throughout Georgia. Currently, the commission is funded through a-penny-a-box assessment on growers who grow 50 acres or more of vegetables. The current ACCV board chairman is L.G. “Bo” Herndon.
