1. Cattle and calves – Oklahoma cattle producers had an inventory of 4.1 million cattle and calves in 2013. These animals brought in $3.3 billion in cash receipts, which accounted for most of the state’s livestock cash receipts.

2. Hogs – Pork is the most widely eaten meat in the world, and Oklahoma’s second most lucrative livestock commodity. Oklahoma’s swine industry generated $994 million in cash receipts in 2013.

3. Poultry and eggs – Poultry and eggs earned $930.3 million in cash receipts in 2013. Broilers, or chickens raised for meat, contributed $824.7 million of the total cash receipts.

4. Wheat – Wheat is grown throughout the continental United States, and grows well on Oklahoma’s rolling plains. Oklahoma’s wheat industry brought in $696.9 million in cash receipts in 2013.

5. Corn – In addition to being produced for livestock feed and human consumption, corn can be processed into ethanol and used as fuel. Oklahoma corn producers generated $208.58 million in cash receipts in 2013.

6. Oil crops – Oil crops, such as sunflower, canola and soy, are processed into natural oils and used for cooking, biofuels and more. This commodity group brought in $174.66 million in cash receipts in 2013.

7. Dairy products, milk – Oklahoma’s 46,000 dairy cows produced 790 million pounds of milk in 2013. Boasting nutritional benefits like protein and vitamin B-12, the state’s milk production earned $168.13 million in cash receipts in 2013.

8. Cotton – Oklahoma cotton producers generated $75.52 million in cash receipts in 2013. This textile is harvested, washed and processed to make products such as socks, sheets and even $100 bills.

9. Vegetable and melons – Oklahoma farmers grow vegetables and melons on more than 10,000 acres. The harvest is sold fresh, frozen and processed, and 2013 crops brought in $30.83 million in cash receipts.

10. Fruits and nuts – Stillwell has hosted a strawberry festival for more than 60 years to celebrate the state fruit and the farmers who produce it. The fruit and nut commodity group earned $23.33 million in cash receipts in 2013.
