To showcase how easily Florida’s fresh commodities can be incorporated into everyday meals, Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Adam H. Putnum launched a series of recipe videos via social media that feature quick, hands-only preparation of “Fresh From Florida” recipes. Each “Fresh!” video provides step-by-step instructions for dishes centered on Florida’s abundant seafood and produce.

“These ‘Fresh’ videos help simplify consumers’ lives by providing easy recipes with wholesome Florida products. Consumers don’t need to go any further than their social media accounts to access these simple and healthy recipes,” says Commissioner Putnam.

The “Fresh!” preparing a “Fresh From Florida” appetizer, main dish, salad, side dish or dessert, and they range from one to two minutes long. Individual recipe videos are posted regularly on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, with scheduled release dates determined by seasonality and availability of ingredients.

Featured recipes include Florida Chicken, Avocado and Swiss Wrap; Florida Gulf Shrimp and Sweet Pepper Stir-Fry; and Florida Vegetable Pasta.

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services “Fresh From Florida” program collaborates with Florida farmers to promote the state’s abundance of fresh seafood and locally grown produce. The program raises awareness for Florida’s more than 300 commodities and $120 billion impact on the economy.

These recipe videos are some of the popular posts on Fresh From Florida’s Facebook page. A Sweet Potato and Carrot Cupcakes recipe received more than 113,000 views. Mushroom Shrimp earned 67,000 views and 41 comments.
