Oklahoma farmers sow approximately 5 to 6 million acres of winter wheat each year. In addition to serving as a major grain crop, Oklahoma wheat plays a vital role in the U.S. cattle industry. Depending on market conditions, 30% to 50% of the state’s wheat acres will be grazed by stocker cattle during the winter months. Wheat brought the state $405.1 million in annual cash receipts.
