Ingredients
Brownie Base
- ¼ cup butter
- 1 4-ounce package German sweet chocolate
- ¾ cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- ¼ teaspoon baking powder
- ½ cup pecans, chopped
Coconut Topping
- 1 ⅓ cups shredded sweetened coconut
- ½ cup pecans, chopped
- ¼ cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- ¼ cup evaporated milk
Instructions
- Heat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease an 8-inch square baking pan. Set aside.
- Combine butter and chocolate in a large glass bowl. Microwave on high for 1 minute or until butter is melted. Remove and stir until chocolate is completely melted.
- Whisk in sugar, vanilla and eggs until smooth. Gently fold in flour, baking powder and pecans.
- Spread brownie batter into prepared pan. Set aside.
- Prepare coconut topping: Combine all ingredients in a small bowl, stirring until thoroughly combined. Gently spoon coconut topping over the brownie base, spreading evenly.
- Bake for 35 to 40 minutes until a toothpick inserted into center comes out with fudgy crumbs. Cool completely in pan on wire rack before cutting into bars using a sharp, thin knife.
